Sustainable Regenerative Bioinks

Sustainable Regenerative Bioinks

About

Sustainable Regenerative Bioinks offer a dual purpose advanced tissue-engineering solution for clinical treatments and coral restoration. The project addresses global needs like ischemic heart and degenerative joint conditions, as well as the predicted 90% coral loss by 2050. Traditional engineered tissues often degrade over time, leading to more interventions. This innovative bio-ink, customisable for specific patients or corals, ensures longevity and seamless integration, whether in human bodies or warming oceans.

Alexander is a dedicated PhD student in the Hauser Group specializing in the field of Tissue engineering. Driven by a desire to make a positive impact on healthcare, Alexander is committed to developing bioinks that can be used in various tissue engineering applications, such as cartilage and skin regeneration. Bioinks are essential in 3D robotic bioprinting that aims to create functional tissues. His work involves optimizing bioinks that possess the necessary mechanical and biological properties to support growth and tissue regeneration.
