About

Small-scale businesses such as Singapore’s food hawkers are particularly vulnerable as not everyone in that community can immediately adapt their business models to benefit from food delivery apps. . To help food stall owners alleviate their current cash-tight situation, this platform allows community members to purchase credit for future use, pre-paying small businesses via existing platfomrs like PayLah!. Whilst Kopi-19 addresses a specific concern for Singapore, the platform can be implemented across geographies and target various vulnerable industries.

Stacey is an Industrial Design student while Ashley is a Computing student. Together, with their complementary skills and knowledge of front and back-end development, they wanted to create something to help give back to their society during these troubled times. After hearing news about hawker owners being unable to pay rent because of the drop in sales, Stacey and Ashley saw how their skills could help hawkers have a digital presence. KOPI-19 was born out of their love for Singapore’s hawker culture. It aims to be an all-encompassing hawker directory that makes it intuitive for the public (who are staying indoors) to contact hawkers (who are still running their businesses outdoors).
