Malnutritional Digital Assistant

About
An innovative digital assistant for malnutrition prevention, the MDA is able to accurately determine the nutritional status of children in countries where there is little access to health centres, trained health staff and up-to-date equipment. The assistant works by taking pictures of specific body parts and uses AI algorithms and geometric morphometric techniques to analyse and determine whether or not malnutrition is evident. It can then advise on treatments and appropriate food supplements. As well as identifying children suffering from malnutrition, the MDA will reduce the treatment time, mortality rate, government costs and increase awareness.

He obtained his Master of Science in Computer Science from Bangalore University in India in 2018 and Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Makerere University in 2011. He is a passionate educator with keen teaching and research interest in Cloud Computing, Artificial Intelligence, Digital Image Processing and Big Data Analytics.

Dr. Businge Phelix Mbabazi is currently Dean/Senior Lecturer-Faculty of Computing, library and Information Science (FoCLIS), Kabale University with PhD in Management Information System (2017), Masters of Information System (2010) and Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering (2007) of Kampala International University with professional training such as Microsoft Certified Systems Administration, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA),Cisco Certified Network Associate Instructors course, Huawei Certified Network Associate(HCIA) and Higher Education Teaching Certificate.

Nwankwo Mercy Chinenye holds a Ph.D. from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, a Master’s degree in Epidemiology from the University of Rwanda. Major research interest in Community and Public health, Health System Problems, Maternal and Child Health and Nutrition, Infectious disease outbreaks Reproductive and Mental health-related issues. Dr. Nwankwo Chinenye authored an academic book and several research articles.
