About

MacGlas is a vision aid designed for people suffering from Macular Degeneration, a degenerative eye disease. Macular Degeneration causes the central vision to blur, making everyday tasks such as reading and watching television difficult to impossible. It’s a global burden, is incurable and is expected to affect 196 million people by 2020 and 288 million by 2040. MacGlas works by harnessing and optimally utilizing the wearer’s undamaged peripheral vision. It applies existing technologies in a novel way to provide an inexpensive, non-invasive solution to an otherwise debilitating problem.
