About
In 2010 the Caribbean island of Curaçao was hit by Hurricane Thomas, destroying fifty per cent of the island’s coral reefs. The coral has struggled to grow back since then, meaning a loss of habitat for thousands of marine species. Kas’I Korel is a device designed to kick-start the struggling ecosystem, providing a temporary shelter for fish that will in turn generate algae and encourage coral polyps to grow. The title means ‘coral house’ in Papiamentu.
