GrainGuard addresses grain storage challenges in Sub-Saharan Africa by providing a 100% natural solution to weevil infestations. This herbal powder, derived from plants such as neem and garlic, effectively manages pests without the drawbacks of synthetic chemicals. It prevents infestations and kills existing weevils within 24 hours, preserving grain quality for up to 8 months. Cost-effective and eco-friendly, GrainGuard reduces storage expenses by 50%, maintains seed viability, and supports sustainable farming practices

A distinguished crop scientist from South Western Uganda, was inspired by pre- and post-harvest losses in his farming community to pursue agriculture science. He holds a Bachelor of Agriculture Science and is pursuing a Master of Science in Climate Change and Food Security at Bishop Stuart University, Mbarara. As CEO of Active Living Uganda Limited, a startup manufacturing plant-based crop protection products, Nahurira focuses on reducing chemical pesticide use, which leads to weevil resistance, reduces grain quality, and harms farmers' incomes and food security. His work boosts yields, supports smallholder farmers, and promotes climate-smart agriculture for food security.
